Recorra is an independent commercial waste and recycling company, serving over 6,000 commercial waste customers across London, the Southeast, and beyond. Over the past three years, the business has grown significantly, taking on new contracts and expanding with staff based off-site and on managed estates. We realised that relying on pen and paper, along with spreadsheets, to manage the process was no longer sustainable.
We needed a management system that was easy to navigate, could be quickly adopted by the wider business to engage in the safety process, and provided visibility at the management level. We were introduced to BCarm by our Broker.
In the last three months, 15 employees across six sites have begun to regularly use BCarm for Incident Reporting and Task Management. Its user-friendly features have led to an increase in reporting and enabled faster communication with management. This has been a real improvement over our previous approach.
We been able to improve our safety auditing and monitoring; we can now assign tasks to staff, collect their evidence, and sign off – all without the risk of missing information or making the process more time-consuming and complicated than necessary.

From an accountability standpoint, BCarm provides visibility into tasks, allowing us to track progress and stay on top of responsibilities.
To produce Monthly Incident/Accident reports, RIDDOR, and Risk Assessments, BCarm generates clear, graph-formatted PDF reports that reflect our brand’s professional tone and are well received by our customers. What used to take a full day to compile for board meetings can now be done with the click of a button.
In terms of process improvement, the way the different modules of BCarm interact with each other eliminates the time spent searching through company drives for the right documents. For example, we’ve recently started using Permits in the System, and can easily link a RAM that we’ve already loaded for a specific contractor to a permit or attach a Risk Assessment or Safe System directly to a permit.
We are ISO 45001 Certified and during our surveillance audit, the Auditor appreciated how the information was presented in BCarm, along with the 12-month plan. BCarm has helped streamline the audit process and foster a more collaborative approach with the Auditor, rather than simply relying on a system for the audit.
Looking ahead, we plan to expand BCarm to more teams across the company.
